The Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam, PhD, recently inspected the ongoing renovation of Amoyo Rehabilitation Centre, expressing satisfaction with the pace of work at the site.
Accompanied by officials from the Ministry, Hajia Imam, claimed that the visit was aimed at reviewing the project in order to familiarise the team with the level of work done, evaluate job standard, assess its progress as well as identify areas of improvement to prevent future embarrassment for the state government.
The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of work done, while appealing for increased speed to minimise inconvenience on the part of the people kept there and to ensure the benefits of the project.
She described the project as one of the major projects and achievements of the state government, commending the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for prioritising citizens’ welfare as practised in developed countries.
“His Excellency is doing total renovation of the Amoyo Rehabilitation Centre. The Governor wants to ensure this place stands the test of time, so he is giving it a face-lift. We don’t really have any rehabilitation centre other than the Amoyo Rehabilitation Centre. It is a project focused on the vulnerable, including people with various disabilities and health challenges and the displaced. Senior citizens’ home will also be situated here. It is one of His Excellency’s projects focused on caring for humanity. So this is a big project”, Hajia Imam stated.
The Commissioner promised that the Ministry’s team will not relent in its efforts at ensuring the project is completed on schedule and to a satisfactory standard.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Elder Peter Kayode Ayanwale, commended Governor AbdulRazaq-led administration for prioritising the welfare of the citizens, urging the contractors to expedite the work in order to meet deadlines and agreement reached with the state government.
The Site Engineer for the construction company, Muluda Nigeria Limited, Engr. Samson Oyeleke, promised to complete the project at the agreed time.
