The Commissioner
The Kwara State Ministry for Social Development is led by the Commissioner for Social Development, Hon. Mariam Nnafatima Imam , PhD. Under their leadership, the Ministry has prioritized sustainable social empowerment initiatives, poverty alleviation, and equitable access to services. The Commissioner is deeply committed to building a socially inclusive state where every citizen, especially the marginalized, has access to quality services that enhance their well-being.
Our Services
The Ministry for Social Development offers a wide range of services designed to improve the social welfare of Kwara State’s residents.
Social Safety Nets
Our social safety net programs help to support vulnerable individuals and households by providing financial assistance, food aid, and other resources during times of crisis.
Elderly Welfare Initiatives
We provide specialized services and programs to improve the quality of life for senior citizens, ensuring they have access to social care and essential services.
Child Protection and Welfare Programs
We provide support and protection for children in vulnerable situations, including those affected by abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
Women and Youth Empowerment
Through various programs, we work to empower women and youth by providing access to skills training, education, and economic opportunities.

Every month, there will be an interactive session exploring pivotal social challenges affecting Kwara’s communities. These dialogues will cover diverse topics including PWDs, education, healthcare, gender equality, and social challenges.
