The Kwara State Ministry of Social Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, has inspected and officially taken delivery of the renovated Amoyo Rehabilitation Centre.
The handover ceremony took place on Friday at the premises of the centre following the completion of the project by the contractor, Muluda Nig. Limited.
Speaking during the inspection, the Hon. Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam, PhD, appreciated the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his timely intervention and commitment to the welfare of vulnerable citizens.
The Commissioner, who was represented by the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply in the Ministry, Mrs. Grace Toyin Taiwo, noted that the approval for the renovation of the facilities and construction of the perimeter fence had significantly improved the safety and living conditions within the centre.
She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to the care and protection of vulnerable groups.
In his remarks, the Head of Department, Architecture, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Kolade Funsho Olushola, stated that the contractor notified the Ministry of the project’s completion two weeks before the inspection.
He added that the Ministry’s assessment confirmed that the project met the required standards, which informed the decision to proceed with the official handover.
The inspection team confirmed that the contractor delivered the project in line with the approved specifications, leading to the formal handover of the facility to the Ministry of Social Development.
Also speaking, the Project Engineer of Muluda Nig. Limited, Engr. Samson Oyeleke, expressed appreciation to the Kwara State Government and the Ministries involved for the confidence reposed in the company.
He assured the government of the company’s continued commitment to quality service delivery, noting that the successful completion of the project reflected the strong collaboration and trust between the contractor and the state government.
The project covered the renovation of the male and female hostels, dining hall, matron’s quarters, and the construction of a perimeter fence at the rehabilitation centre.
It would be recalled that the renovation followed a fire outbreak at the facility on February 18, 2025, which damaged key sections of the centre.
Subsequently, the Kwara State Government awarded the contract for the rehabilitation and perimeter fencing of the centre to Muluda Nig. Limited on September 10, 2025.
