The Kwara State Ministry of Social Development has donated two wheelchairs to persons living with cerebral palsy, reinforcing the state government’s commitment to inclusive social welfare and support for vulnerable groups.
The Hon. Commissioner for Social Development, Hajiya Mariam Nnafatima Imam, PhD, presented the wheelchairs to the beneficiaries on Monday at the Ministry’s premises in Ilorin, the state capital.
The presentation followed the Ministry’s participation in the Ifeoluwa Cerebral Palsy Initiative Family Forum held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, where the Ministry pledged support for individuals living with cerebral palsy and their families.
Presenting the wheelchairs, Hajiya Imam described the Family Forum as an inspiring platform that provided an opportunity to listen, learn, and engage with families and advocates working tirelessly to support persons living with cerebral palsy.
“Their voices matter, their stories inspire action, and their strength reminds us why inclusion must remain a priority,” she said.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to providing tangible support that empowers vulnerable groups, stressing that the government remains dedicated to building a society where everyone is seen, heard, and supported.
In her response, the Founder of the Ifeoluwa Cerebral Palsy Initiative, Mrs Ifeoluwa Aderonke, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Kwara State Government and the Ministry of Social Development for the timely intervention.
She commended the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups, noting that the gesture would significantly improve the quality of life of the beneficiaries and bring relief to their families.
