KWSG Warns Residents Against Jungle Justice.

The Kwara State Government has cautioned members of the public against taking the law into their hands, while encouraging them to always report suspected individuals to the appropriate authorities for prosecution within the confines of the law.

 

This was contained in a statement issued today by the Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam, PhD, who strongly condemned the recent incident in which a suspected woman was subjected to jungle justice in Ilorin, describing the act as an incivility and highly barbaric conduct.

 

The statement further emphasised that the present administration is committed to protecting the rights of every resident and maintained that the state government would not tolerate any act of rascality and illegality capable of threatening the existing peace and harmony across the state.

 

It therefore warned all residents to desist from taking laws into their hands, stressing that anyone who engages in such acts will face the full wrath of the law, be duly prosecuted and sanctioned accordingly.

 

The statement further commiserated with the family of the victim of the jungle justice over the loss, saying that the state government is working tirelessly with the law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.

 

It also called on residents not to panic but to support the state government by providing necessary information to security agencies in order to surmount the security challenges in some parts of the state.
