Social Development Commissioner Charges Youths on Creativity, New Opportunities.

The Kwara State Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam, PhD, has charged Nigerian youths to embrace creativity and take advantage of new opportunities to add value to their immediate environment and the country at large.

The Commissioner gave the charge recently while addressing participants at an event hosted by the Kwara Chapter of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN) in Fate, Ilorin, organised to step-down the 2025 FOMWAN Annual Youth Camp earlier held in Akure, Ondo State.

Speaking at the event themed: “Empowered Voices, Greener Choices”, Hajia Imam stated that creativity has become highly necessary for recent economy to survive, adding that it fosters independence and self-reliance, all of which are improved through new experiences.

She enjoined the youths to be diligent in their choice of future careers, saying, “By empowering your voices with knowledge, values and faith, you can make choices that protect your health, strengthen your communities and preserve the environment for future generations.”

The Commissioner commended FOMWAN, Kwara State Chapter, for its commitment to youth development, moral reorientation and environmental sustainability through its annual youth camp initiative, stating that within these lie opportunities for young people to take charge of their future.

While commending the Association’s unrelenting dedication to raising a responsible generation, Hajia Imam pointed out that the youth camp goes beyond lectures and activities, as it also prepares participants to serve as ambassadors of positive change in their various homes, schools, mosques and communities.

The Commissioner appreciated the organisers for inviting her and praised the timeliness of the theme in addressing the challenges facing today’s youths.

The Amirah of FOMWAN, Kwara State Chapter, Hajia Nimat Labaika, expressed delight in hosting participants to the 2025 Step-Down of the National Zonal Youth Camp, explaining that the initiative provides a platform for social interaction, learning and mentorship for young people across the country.

Hajia Labaika noted that the camp is one of the Association’s strategies for mobilizing, sensitizing and grooming youths to become role models, good ambassadors of the Ummah and future leaders, stating that this year’s camp was carefully designed to address contemporary issues affecting young people and the Ummah at large.

“The annual youth camp is not just an event; it is a call to action for parents, guardians and stakeholders to pay attention to our youths and support them in actualizing their full potentials,” she added.
