KWSG Reassures NGOs of Sustained Collaboration on Poverty Eradication

As part of its broader efforts to eradicate poverty among the people, the Kwara State government has again reassured Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) operating in the state of its unwavering commitment to sustained collaboration aimed at improving the welfare of orphans and vulnerable children.

The Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam PhD, gave the reassurance recently during a graduation ceremony and the distribution of empowerment and basic support items to the orphans by Abubakar As-Sidiq Philanthropic Home, held at the Banquet Hall, Ilorin.

The Commissioner who described NGOs as agents for social change, said strong collaborations will be needed from them to improve public service and enhance delivery of good governance to the vulnerable groups in the state.

Hajia Imam emphasized the need for collective efforts in addressing human suffering through poverty alleviation, stressing that ensuring the well-being of children and orphans is essential to enabling them to live with dignity and self-esteem.

She observed that the state government cannot do it alone, noting that NGOs should make the necessary changes to support the state government’s drive to make the society worth living for the needy.

The Commissioner commended the organisation for its compassion for humanitarian services and for recognising the worth of every individual towards restoring hope and dignity to the vulnerable people who have lost hope in the society, saying the organisation is not only giving support but also giving hope, dignity and creating a better future for children.

Earlier in his address, the Project Manager, Abubakar As-Sidiq Philanthropic Home, Barr. Farid Abdulrazaq Salman, disclosed that the programme was designed to promote self-sufficiency and independence among the beneficiaries, who are orphans and vulnerable children across the state.
