Kwara State Deputy Governor, Represented by Hon. Commissioner for Social Development, Leads State at AFCRD Interdenominational Church Service

In observance of the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day (AFCRD), the Deputy Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency, Mr. Kayode Alabi, joined service chiefs, senior officers, and congregations at a solemn interdenominational church service held on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

His Excellency was represented at the service by the Honourable Commissioner for Social Development, Hajiya Mariam Nnafatima Imam, PhD. The event, which took place at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke-Isegun, Taiwo Isale, Ilorin, provided a sacred avenue for thanksgiving, prayers, and national reflection.

The service, a key event in the week-long national programme under the theme “Valour, Sacrifice, and Unity: Honouring Our Heroes”, was dedicated to honouring the memory of military personnel who paid the supreme price in defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty. Congregants also offered prayers for divine guidance and protection for serving members of the Armed Forces.

The AFCRD activities will culminate in the grand finale, the Wreath-Laying Ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the Kwara State Amusement Park, Wahab Folawiyo (Unity) Road, Ilorin.
