Ministry of Social Development Concludes arrangements to Celebrate 2025 International Day of Persons With Disabilities With Para Soccer

The Kwara State Ministry of Social Development has finalised arrangements on the commemoration of 2025 International Day of Persons With Disabilities, an annual event observed on December 3 of every year.

To this end, a para soccer match is among the activities lined up for the celebration of this year’s event themed “Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress”, to be organised for persons with disabilities on Wednesday, December 3, at the Handball Court, George Innih Stadium, Taiwo Oke, Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

Other activities also on the programme note for the celebration include empowerment for the people with disabilities, trade fair, among others.

The state Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam PhD, while speaking during a courtesy visit to the office of the Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Mogaji, on Monday, to intimate him on the development, disclosed that the game will be organised to promote inclusion on the part of the people with disabilities in the state.

She noted that integrating people with disabilities into the society will provide them a way to gain confidence as well as empower them to acquire recognition needed in the society.

The commissioner appreciated His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for providing the resources needed to make the event a success, just as she commended him for giving priority attention to the needs of people with disabilities in the state.

The Executive Chairman of the state Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Mogaji, commended the commissioner for the initiative, rating the initiative as one of the best empowerment programmes to improve the overall well being of people with disabilities.

He stated that the initiative will go a long way in not only give the people, he described as special, self-confidence but will improve their physical condition as well as their overall health.

He also thanked the Governor AbdulRazaq-led administration for providing a conducive environment for sports activities to thrive in the state.
